The Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic still affects many aspects of our lives and the situation is still evolving.

20 July 2021: This page will be updated again in the next few days.

We may once more hold services in our church buildings, albeit with care and restrictions.

To allow for proper social distancing, numbers may be limited. If you wish to attend any of our church services please contact the churchwardens in advance so that they can ensure everyone's safety (see 'Who's Who' > Church Contacts for details).

Some of our churches are open at times for personal prayer:

Churches open regularly are:

Monday (9am - 1pm) St Mary, Gate Helmsley
Tuesday (10am - 5pm) St Peter, Upper Helmsley
Wednesday (11am - 6pm) St Mary, Sand Hutton
Thursday (2pm - 6pm) St Mary, Gate Helmsley
Saturday (10am - 5pm) St Peter, Upper Helmsley
Sunday (11am - 6pm) St Mary, Sand Hutton

To allow 72 hours between openings, times may be altered if there has been a Sunday service or, for example, a funeral in the church

Other churches in the Benefice may open on request - please contact the appropriate Churchwarden for information

Visitors are asked to bring and wear face coverings, use hand sanitiser provided and to follow carefully the instructions on display at the church entrance.

We warmly invite you to join us at 10am on alternate Sundays for our online service, led by Revd. Chris Wingfield, our Rector.

See the Calendar for details.

The following events are still cancelled until further notice:

  • Benefice choir practices
  • Play & Pray - all sessions in church buildings
  • Some Messy Church events are continuing - with activity bags delivered to families who then meet online
     - see the Children and Youth page for updates

If you know of anyone in your neighbourhood who might need practical or pastoral help then do contact a member of the Ministry Team or one of the Churchwardens.

In the Calendar you will find the scripture references for each Sunday and you might like to read these as you set aside some time for prayer and reflection. Below are some prayers that you may wish to use:

For the Christian community

We are not people of fear:
we are people of courage.
We are not people who protect our own safety:
we are people who protect our neighbours’ safety.
We are not people of greed:
we are people of generosity.
We are your people God,
giving and loving,
wherever we are,
whatever it costs
For as long as it takes
wherever you call us.

They are set out so that you can read them as they are or perhaps cut into separate prayers to use each day:
